PE and Sport Funding

PE and Sports Premium funding at Brampton

PE and sports premium is allocated to schools by the government, based on the number of pupils in years 1 to 6.  The object of the funding is for schools to be able to ‘make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of PE and sports that they offer’.

The current allocation is £16,000 per school, with an additional £10 per pupil.  Our school is thus eligible for an additional payment of approximately £3,230 , based on our current pupil numbers.

How we use the PE and Sport Premium funding

Given the aim of the funding, we ensure that it is used to deliver improvements, over and above the quality PE and sports teaching that we already provide at Brampton.

Areas where we use our funding includes:

  • Hire  a qualified sports coach to work with teachers
  • Provide existing staff with training or resources to help them teach PE and sport more effectively
  • Introduce new sports or activities and encourage more pupils to take up sport
  • Run sport competitions
  • Increase pupils’ participation in the School Games
  • Run sports activities with other schools

Reporting the use and impact of the PE and Sport Premium

As a recipient of PE and sport premium funding, we publish details of how we spend this money, and the effect it has had on pupils’ PE and sport participation and attainment.

We include:

  • How much PE and sport premium funding we received for this academic year
  • A full breakdown of how we will spend the funding this year
  • The effect of the premium on pupils’ PE and sport participation and attainment
  • How we will make sure these improvements are sustainable

These reports are available as downloads on this page.
